July 31, 2015 - Cruising, Words, First Pair Of Shoes

Adelynn has started cruising around furniture and walking with her walker! She is so proud of herself when she does it and starts clapping and laughing.

She LOVES her Daddy! I'm feeding her a snack right now and it's almost time for Scott to be home. She heard Bryanna come down the stairs, she got all excited and thought it was Scott "Dada! Dada!"

She loves to wave hi and bye to people. The second we get out of the car she starts waving, even if there isn't anyone around. She has even started saying hi-eee...it's so cute!

When she bumps into an object with her walker she asked for help, it comes out as "how." Another thing she will say is "stuck" which comes out like "stuh" when she can't move the walker and gets stuck on something.

Another word she says a lot is uh-ah (uh-oh). She will sometimes say uh-ah just before she's about to drop something - silly girl!

She loves to point to her belly button, she calls it beh-buh. She also knows where her nose is.

She says "what's that" when pointing to new things, it comes out like "whazah"

When she wants to sit down, she says si (sit)

Her favorite food is any kind of meat. She eats it first when it's on her tray and always eats it all!

First Pair of shoes! She measured a 3.5 but we got a 4 so that she could grow into them. She has tiny feet for her age!

July 26, 2015 - Joan & Rick Visit

We had a nice fun packed visit with Grandma & Grandpa Wetzel. We went out to dinner at Archie Moore's then walked down by the water and had ice cream at Scoopy Doos. The next day, they went swimming and then we went to Walnut Beach for the Sandcastle contest. After that, we walked down to Walnut Beach creamery for some more ice cream.

We saw a vole on our way to Scoopy Doos!

July 24, 2015 - 1 Year Appointment

We combined Adelynns and Bryanna's one year apptointment which made it easier by just having one visit- it still took 2hrs though!

Adelynn is 23.9lbs (87th percentile) and 30.5" (88th percentile) and head circumference is in the 93rd percentile.

Bryanna is 36.8lbs (27th percentile) and height 40.75" (16th percentile)

Bry was so scared to get her finger pricked! I even got mine done to try and help out...after she got that done she found out she needed a shot and that didn't go over so well!

Adelynn just crawled and rolled around on the floor - not having a clue what she was in for!

July 20, 2015 - Swallowing & Birth23

Adelynn got approved for Birth to 3 services for developmental delay. What qualified her was that she was unable to sit up from the floor. She isn't behind on any of the gross motor, but we felt that we should just go ahead and do it because she does have low muscle tone too. We have been getting services for a few weeks now (once a week) and have definitely seen improvement! It's so nice that they come to our house which makes Adelynn much more comfortable. They show us a new trick to work on and after showing her, she has got it! She is so smart and picks up on everything.

She likes to lock her knees and curl her toes in, which helps her stabilize (it's harder for her because of the low tone), so we have been working on bending her knees in the standing position. The therapist is so shocked at how much she has improved - she says it typically takes weeks for a baby with low tone to learn these new tricks. I think it's Adelynn's determination because she is into everything!

Now that she has the hang of it, she can pull herself up and get down from anywhere!

We still have to thicken Adelynn's liquids. She is down to one bottle a day (at bedtime), but it is a struggle trying to find liquids in the store that are "nectar" thick. We have found some juices, but the doctor recommends to limit the juice intake. For right now we are thickening the milk with Gelmix (half whole milk, half formula - trying to get rid of the formula) and also thickening some water (which she doesn't really like). The OT (feeding specialist) recommended to try to slowly thin the liquid, which we have tried, and she still coughs. I'm leaning more toward doing the scoping...we need to think about it some more. She would need to be under anesthesia for it, which makes us nervous.

Yes, she has more outfits than these pj's! Haha! For some reason I always snap photos of her in them.

July 16, 2015 - Pulling Up & Climbing Stairs

Adelynn has been working on pulling herself up and climbing stairs so now that is all she wants to do! I am constantly pulling her down from the stairs...looks like it's time for the baby gate!

July 12, 2015 - Swimming Fun

It takes her a little bit to get comfortable (a lot less time than me, lol) but once she does, she loves it!

July 11, 2015 - Kisses

It was such a sweet moment last night. Scott and I were on the floor playing with Adelynn and I asked for kisses. She just smiled at me because she knew what I was asking. After about a minute she leaned in and gave Scott a kiss and then me (making that muh sound each time) and just kept going back and forth giving us kisses...it was so cute!

July 10, 2015 - Cranial Technologies Part 2

We have been seeing Joan for the cranial sacral massage and I have been keeping up with the torticollis stretches. I really don't notice the asymmetry anymore (even when looking in the mirror) and Joan is beyond thrilled with her results. She says that we can go every other week now. I called Cranial Technologies because I was curious to see if the numbers had improved. They were able to do another scan and the results are below. The woman who did the scan even commented how the asymmetry looked better.

As you can see the flatness is 8mm (so it definitely has improved, and that much in one month!) and the asymettry numbers say the same thing but you can't get an accurate measurement when she is crying like that. Scott and I discussed it and we are very confident with our decision to not do the helmet. Joan told me that if Adelynn was her daughter that she would not do it. What helped make the decision was how happy Joan was with Adelynn's improvement and seeing the improvement in the results.
