April 21, 2016 - Florida Vacation!

We had such an amazing trip this year. We didn't think that we could top last years vacation, but we just might have. Thank you sooooo much to Grandpa and Grammy Kelly for letting us stay at your condo, we appreciate it so much!

Day 1
We woke up around 2:45am and tried to transfer the kids to their car seats, hoping they would sleep on the ride to the airport. Well, we don't have the type of kids that fall asleep anywhere, ours like to keep themselves awake as long as possible because they don't want to miss anything. We got to the airport later than expected. Getting to the Newark Airport isn't as easy as any other airport that we have been to and we ended up on rt 80 somehow...then it was a nightmare to get to the long term parking. We took a bus to the airport and at that point were really positive we were going to miss our flight. The ticket agent mentioned that I was Pre TSA, and that the kids were also, but even though Scott wasn't, we could go through the Pre TSA line. We went to that line, waited 10 minutes just to be told that we could not go through that line. At this point, we had 30 minutes to get on the plane. We still had to go through a 30-45 minute line just to get to the security line, so that definitely wasn't going to happen. I found the ticket agent again and she miraculously put us at the front of the line. We went through security, ran to gate C and were the last ones to board the plane...oh happy day! Thank god the rest of the day was a breeze. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention we forgot Adelynn's car seat while we were in rush to get on the bus at the long term parking, but luckily we were able to rent one at basically the same price to transport ours.

Excited to be here!

A little tired

We are tired but lets go to the pool!

 First painted toes!

Day 2
We wanted to try a new beach this time so we headed to Lovers Key. We saw a little owl poking his head out from his hole on our way in, then we saw some needle fish (that's what we are calling them anyway) when walking over the bridge and nestled ourselves onto the beach. I was a little happy that it was cloudy because it was a little humid that day. No one was complaining of the heat, which was nice for a change. Adelynn HATES the sand! We have some work to do on that, she doesn't mind playing with it, but really hates it when it touches her feet. She took a nice nap on the beach while we looked for shells and swam a little.

Bryanna named them Needle, Needie, and Deedie.

Then we went to Bahama Breeze.

Then we spotted one on the way back to the condo!

After nap time we took a drive to the huge flea market.

Day 4
We took a drive to Naples Zoo. We really liked this zoo and saw a lot of animals that we don't see in the zoo's up north. The grounds of the zoo were beautiful as well and very tropical.

These guys wanted food!

She loved the animals but seemed more interested in picking up the shells from the ground and putting them through the fence.

Day 5
Siesta Key was a place that we were really excited to visit. It was so beautiful! The sand never gets hot and the water is a turquoise color like the Caribbean. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.

Day 6
We decided to go to Lakes Park again and spend the day there. We rented a family bike and petaled around the park. We spotted lots of wild life and the kids really loved sitting in the front.

Ice cream break! I think we ended up getting ice cream every day...can't have enough of that!

After Addy's nap, we drove to Fort Myers Beach where we ate at our favorite restaurant located right on the beach. After dinner, we took a nice long walk while watching the sun set.

We found some awesome creatures including a horseshoe crab, starfish, sand dollar, sting ray and we saw a dolphin!

On our way back to the condo we spotted this gecko...they are such strange creatures! Scott made it move and it scurried away so fast! He ran all the way up to the 3rd floor right in front of our door...maybe it's the same one as last year!

Day 7
It wouldn't be a Florida trip without some shelling! We headed to Sanibel Island, Bowman's Beach specifically, for some beach time and shelling.

Addy didn't have a hard time napping on the beach with the waves crashing in the background.

She played in the sand a little bit, but made sure to get the sand off her feet!

After the beach, we decided to drive further down the Island to Captiva Beach, but first a stop at Starbucks! Captiva beaches were beautiful and the drive was nice too. We saw beautifully landscaped mansions and some neat shops. We will definitely spend a day here next year!

We saw some additional beach parking spots on our way to Captiva and stopped to check them out. This is Blind Pass beach on Sanibel. There were shells galore!

No way was she walking on this beach!

We noticed lots of people shelling out on these little islands so Scott had to take a peak. He ended up finding some beauties! Bryanna wasn't able to go with him because of the strong current. I circled Scott in the picture below.

We thought this was pretty cool to see this Osprey with his dinner!

Our finds!

Day 8

Good morning!

We had a little time to kill so we headed to Lakes Park again...I don't think we could get enough of this park! We went on the train for the 3rd time...so fun!

Other than 2 parking tickets, and finding out that our car battery died on the way home, we had such an amazing trip! No meltdowns, beautiful dry weather, saw lots of creatures (some that we haven't seen before), and made lots of new memories. Two of Scott's goals for this trip were to see wild alligators and catch one of those lizards and he was able to accomplish both of those things! LOL Can't wait until next time, Florida!
