June 28, 2015 - Cake Smash

I cant believe she will be turning 1 in 4 days!!!! I just can’t believe it! She has the type of personality that wants to get into EVERYTHING, so we really thought she would tear into this cake….and oh boy, were we wrong! She has been feeding herself since she was 6/7 months old, so I’m not sure where the fear of frosting came from! LOL! The second she touched the frosting, she really disliked it. I thought that after she tasted it, she would be all right and dig in. You could tell she really liked it when we gave her some and made a yummy sound too, but the second more touched her hand, she cried bloody murder! There was one second where she was trying to get around using her hands so she went at it with her face, but that didn’t last long. Lastly, I grabbed her foot, the torturous Mom that I am, and stuffed it in the cake…and can you guess what happened? LOL, she cried again. I think we need to play with some frosting some more!

I’ve been wanting to try the bubble bath after my cake smash sessions, and what better way to practice than on my own little one! Adelynn really loves bath time so I really thought this would snap her out of her fear of frosting but I was wrong once again…she hated it! I think by this point she was tired and wanted to go down for a nap, so I’m debating on if I should try a little bubble bath session when she is well rested and not traumatized…we shall see!

June 19, 20 - Bryanna & Adelynn

My two girls at almost the exact same age at the exact same location. Bryanna has pale skin, dark hair that grows like a weed and hazel eyes...Adelynn has darker skin, blonde hair and blue eyes...total opposites! Their face shape, eyes and nose...and expressions and sounds are very similar though...definitely sisters but individuals.

June 18, 2015 - Assisted walking, Whole Milk & Teeth

On Bryanna's birthday (16th) Adelynn started showing interest of walking while holding onto our hands. We have been working on it for months but she decided she wanted to try it that day. It was cute watching her try so hard, lifting her legs up and taking some extra large steps, small steps, then a leg would buckle - yesterday she walked down the whole hallway from the fireplace room into the living room!

I gave Adelynn whole milk for the first time today. I assumed there would be a reaction or expression on her face because she's never tried it before, but she seemed to really like it! She even did her little happy food feet kick.

I noticed Adelynns two front bottom teeth are coming! For the past month, I could feel them a little and they were clear but now they're coming through more and you can see the white tips and they are sharp! You can see them a little bit in this picture...it's a little hard to get a picture when she is squirming all around.

June 15, 2015 - Still Loves Babies

We forgot Adelynn's baby doll during our visit to NY, so when we got back to CT, she instantly found Bryannas and started giving it some slobbery kisses.

And also taking the baby's hand and waving it for her.

June 11, 2015 - Cranial Technologies

We have been getting the cranial sacral therapy for a while now. The place that we take Adelynn, Faulkner Physical Therapy, is one of the best places to receive this type of therapy and also Joan, the owner, is one of the best therapist. We started seeing Joan in the winter, shortly after that (we definitely saw some improvement), Joan became ill and we had a little over a month without therapy. I stopped doing Adelynn's torticollis stretches because I felt like I didn't notice it anymore. I did start noticing some asymmetry in her face. In February, we started seeing Debbie, which is Joan's daughter - she felt like she saw some improvement. I ended up having to see Joan again and noticed some improvement right away! Around April/May, Joan had commented how Adelynn's temple has moved away from her face. I totally panicked! I knew there was some asymmetry but I didn't know how severe it was! Another problem was that our insurance didn't approve anymore visits, saying that her torticollis is improved enough. I started balling my eyes out and called cranial technologies right away. They did a full head scan of her and as you can see in the picture, the toritcollis is pretty bad. I think she had a growth spurt which made it even worse. (Every time Adelynn has a growth spurt, her torticollis seems to come back). Also, her Ptosis in the eye doesn't help with the asymmetry.

You can see in the image that her head is tilted to the left and also that her left eye is lower than the other one?

Below is the report. You can see that her head shape from the side looks pretty good. It's when you look at a different angle that you can see the flat spot. Also, one ear is lower than the other. I found out that most of this asymmetry is caused by her torticollis. Her flatness is rated as 9mm, which anything over 6mm they recommend the helmet. They told us that we still have a little time to discuss what we would like to do. They will do the helmet up until 18 months. I took this information back to Debbie and Joan and they both said to wait and see if there is anymore improvement. I called our insurance and spoke to many different people and was able to get more visits!!!!
