February 23, 2015 - Feeding Update, Bath Time

Adelynn has been doing so good eating. We started thickening the bottle again and using a Y nipple size, giving her the nat phos, and feeding her in her bedroom where it is nice and dark without distractions. She doesn't kick her leg around like she did before, so you can tell she is more relaxed when feeding too. She doesn't lose suction on the nipple either, so that is a great improvement as well. It makes me wonder was it the reflux or distraction, or both.

I think taking a bath together is both of their favorite time of the day!

February 19, 2015 - Rolling

This little girl is all over the place rolling around, I really need to keep an eye on her! She started on the rug and seconds later worked her way over to her toys.

February 14, 2015 - Grandma & Grandpa Neal Visit

We had a great visit this weekend! Especially since Grandma & Grandpa watched the kids so we could go out...I seriously think this is the first time we have been out on Valentines Day!

We also got to celebrate Grandpa's birthday with him and made him a cake!

February 7, 2014 - Rolling, Up On Knees

She started over by the couch...I come back into the room and she made it all the way over there! And yes, she has been in the same outfit for 2 days now...its clean, no food, or poop on it yet so it's all good! Lol, don't judge!

I put her up on her knees and she stayed there for a couple of minutes!

February 5, 2015 - Clapping

Adelynn loves playing pat-a-cake (patty cake)...and a couple of weeks ago I noticed Adelynn started doing it on her own! She loves clapping and does it all the time now...mostly with a huge smile on her face!

February 4, 2015 - Physical a Therapy

I stopped taking Adelynn to Faulkner Physical therapy on December 10th. It was getting busy with the holidays coming up and the owner, Joan, was so happy with her progress and she said I only needed to come every other week. I decided to talk to Adelynns pediatrician and asked for a referral for a local therapist because Faulkner was in Wallingford which is a 30 min drive. I was making the trip 2 times a week for over a month and was so glad to hear we didn't have to go as often but I figured why not try a local place. They recommended Kidsense, which is the same place I took Bryanna. I took her two times and was not happy with the therapist. Supposedly she does cranial sacral therapy as well, but there was something off about her. I would ask questions that she didn't know the answer too and I felt that if she was qualified she would have known the answers. Even when Adelynn had her evaluation at Kidsense they commented that Joan was the best. So having that in mind, I decided to just take her back to Faulkner Therapy.

She was so cute during her session today. She kept looking over at me and giving me the biggest scrunchy nose smiles and when I was out of sight, she would whine for me. She is starting to get a little personality and also so aware. She isn't so sure of strangers and will get the saddest face and cry when someone she doesn't know gets close so don't be hurt if she does that...she just wants her mommy! She also looks for me and cries when I am out of sight.

February 3, 2015 - Lip Tie Update, Eye Doctor

Her poor lip is so swollen today. I could peek under and see a little bit which looks so gross! The doctor said that was to be expected. The good news is that she is drinking more of her bottles and not losing suction!!! I'm so excited about this since there seems to be improvement. She is a little whiny today so I gave her some Tylenol in case she is in any pain.

Adelynn had her follow up with Dr Bacal, the eye doctor, and she is still +5 farsighted. He wants to follow up when she is 1 and if her vision hasn't improved then she will most likely need glasses. He doesn't like to give them to children under 1yr but if I notice she is straining or becoming cross eyed then we will need to get glasses sooner.

February 2, 2015 - Happy 7 Months!, Lip Tie

Happy 7 months baby girl! I say this every month but I can't believe how much time has past!

Terrible storm today, we got lots of snow overnight and are supposed to get lots more today. The roads are terrible!

Adelynn has been having feeding issues where she looses attachment from the nipple and coughs throughout her feedings. She has gotten to the point where she will only drink a few ounces before she stops, wait 20 minutes then try again. I noticed her lip tie months ago but since it doesn't cause feeding problems in most babies, doctors said we didn't need to do anything about it. The last few weeks I have been paying more attention to what the problem is and that is when I noticed the suction problem. I figured it had to be related to the lip tie and by speaking with Shannon, it confirmed my suspicion and she said it could be what is causing it. We had the appointment with the ENT today and he clipped her lip tie.

OMG was that hard to watch. She laid on the table all happy and smiley...she had no clue what she was in for. The nurse swaddled her and held her lip up while the doctor clamped and clipped it. From what I was told to expect, it was fast and clamped then clipped but he had to go back in a couple of times to make sure it was clipped right. I felt terrible for her and  felt like she was being tortured!!! I spoke to her the whole time so she could hear my voice and when it was done the desperation and terrifying look on her face was so heart breaking. She didn't cry long, ate right away, and slept the car ride home.
