July 30, 2014 - 3 Weeks Old!, First Zoo Trip, Smile
We ventured out today for Adelynn's first trip to the zoo. Both girls did great! Minimal crying and whining!
So, I SWEAR Adelynn smiled at me today. I was laying on the floor with her just before bath time and she smirked and I heard a little giggle. It was the cutest thing! She was wide awake when it happened so I like to think it was real...guess we will see in the next couple of days if I see more.

I can't stay in the house any longer! We went to the mall and had our first family dinner out at BW3's!

July 23, 2014 - 3 Weeks Old, Eating, Gassy Baby!
Adelynn is eating 3/4oz every 3/4hrs with a 6hr stretch over night. This has been pretty consistent for the past week but I know that can change. My only complaint is that she is a grunter! LOL! The grunting makes it a little hard to sleep at night...the grunting usually starts after the 1/2am feeding.
She's such a good baby, she really only cries when she needs something. She was constipated for a few days but giving her probiotics has fixed that problem. She has been pretty gassy too so we switched back to the Dr Browns bottles and have noticed a change.
July 18, 2014 - 2 Week Appointment, Grandpa and Grandma Batz Visit, Blocked Tear Duct
Adelynn's appointment went great. She is growing good and staying in the 50th percentile. She's 8lbs 14.5oz and 20.5" long.
Adelynn has a blocked tear duct in her left eye. I feel so bad for her because she wakes up every morning with her eyes crusted shut. I have to massage her tear duct a few times a day and keep her eye clean. This should resolve on it's own but if it doesn't clear up by the time she turns one she could need surgery to open the duct.
We had a nice visit from Grandma and Grandpa Batz. They got to meet Adelynn for the first time and Bryanna had fun playing and swimming with them.

July 16, 2014 - 2 weeks old!
That was probably the fastest two weeks of my life! Why couldn't time have gone this fast when I was pregnant!!
Adelynn is doing so great! She's been such a good eater since the first bottle she took in the hospital. She is drinking 3oz every 3/4hrs with a 4/5hr stretch at night. She's pretty gassy but you can usually get some good burps out of her. Every day she is awake more and more, which just goes to show how fast they grow and change and why taking pictures is so important!
Bryanna is doing so good with her. Adelynn was in the car seat yesterday and I was in the kitchen and heard her starting to cry. I go in the living room and Bryanna was rocking the car seat and shushing her back to sleep. She's such a good big sister!
I LOVE watching Adelynn sleep. The noises and faces she makes in her sleep are so cute...I can't get enough of it!

July 13, 2014 - Such A Good Baby!
Adelynn is such a good baby! (knock on wood) So far she only cries when she needs something (hungry, cold, poopy diaper). She is sleeping pretty good for being an 11 day old...she did a 5 hr stretch last night!
She is a little gassy, but luckily she is a good burper...but I do sense some reflux. We will hold her upright for a while after feeding but she still hiccups and coughs when laying her down which definitely annoys her. We are going to try some gripe water to see if that helps.
One more thing, her belly button is hanging on by a thread, so we might get to see what it looks like tomorrow!

July 10, 2014 - First Doctors Appointment
We had Adelynn's first week appointment and she did great! She is gaining weight - she's already 8lbs 6.5oz...which means she gained 11oz (0.75lbs) since she was born. She also grew a 1/2" in length and 1cm in head circumference which makes her in the 50% percentile for everything.
July 8, 2014 - Twins
It's incredible the similarities between Bryanna and Adelynn as babies - you can definitely tell they are sisters. Besides some of the facial similarities, they make a lot of the same expressions, noises and poses!
She does have some hair in the back! Rockin' the mullet!
July 4, 2014 - Welcome Home!
It's amazing how much better you feel after the second baby. I was ready to go home the day after I delivered, but decided on staying one more day. Ahh, so good to be home!
Thanks for the cake Grandma and Grandpa!

July 2, 2014 - Adelynn Arrival!
Many of you may know my struggle with the decision on if I should have a c-section or try for a natural birth with this pregnancy. After discussing it with my doctors, they pretty much couldn't give me any advice on which way would be the best for me. The main point that I hung on to was that every delivery is different and just because I had a traumatic delivery with Bryanna, doesn't necessarily mean I will have one with this pregnancy. I decided to roll the dice and try naturally. I am so happy...words can't even describe how happy and thankful I am for my decision. My delivery went great and I had a beautiful baby!!!
My labor started Tuesday around 2pm with contractions 20 minutes apart. In my head this was the real deal since the contractions felt more intense than what I have been experiencing before. They started to come closer together and around 10pm we headed to the hospital. The contractions were extremely painful at this point and for good reason, they checked me and I was 5cm dilated....yay! By the time I got to the delivery room I was 6cm - I swear these contractions were even more painful than what I experienced with Bryanna so I opted for the epidural...so glad about that! I started pushing around 10am and our beautiful Adelynn was born at 10:30am weighing 7lbs 11.5oz and 20" long. She had the cord very tightly wrapped around her neck so the doctor had to cut it before she came out but thankfully that didn't cause any problems.
Bryanna was so cute and excited when she walked into the room to see Adelynn for the first time, it was love at first sight. After taking a look at her she says, "Yep, we are going to keep her!"
A HUGE thank you to my mom and dad for coming and helping us out. Bryanna had such a special time with Grandma and I am so happy and thankful mom was here to watch her while we were in the hospital...we seriously couldn't have done it without her!
